Although most multipurpose oils are designed to prevent rust, they require frequent reapplication and cleaning to effectively keep rust at bay.

However, if you’re seeking long-term rust protection for outdoor steel structures such as pipe fittings, gates, fences, galvanized poles, and newly welded joints, consider the all-new Q-ZINC.

Q-ZINC is a fast-drying zinc spray that chemically bonds with ferrous metals, creating a highly protective barrier against rust and outdoor exposure for extended periods.

Corrosion typically occurs when metal surfaces come into contact with electrolytes, causing the metal to revert to its natural state as an ore. This process weakens and disintegrates the metal.

One way to prevent this from happening is to use a sacrificial material (such as a zinc coating) that gets attacked by corrosion instead of the metal you’re trying to protect.

For optimal results, it’s best to treat any existing rusted surfaces with EVAPO-RUST or Q12 Rust Remover – a hydrochloric and phosphoric acid-based formula that converts iron oxide (rust) into iron phosphate.

This transformation takes about 15 to 30 minutes. Afterwards, the rust can be easily washed or wiped off with a cloth. Once the rust is removed and the area is completely dry, you can apply Q-ZINC.

Note: Q12 should not be used on certain types of stainless steel or chrome-plated surfaces. Additionally, when working with any acid-based product, it is advisable to wear gloves and eye protection.
